Helen's Ghost Speaks Poem by Francis Duggan

Helen's Ghost Speaks

Oh Helen dear we thought that you were dead
Thought proved you wrong I never died she said
To grieve for me on your heart needless load
For I never left Belgrave or Bayview road.

Oh Helen but your house burnt to the ground
And we don't see you anywhere around
And if you live in Belgrave pray tell us where?
'Where my house was I still am living there'.

You are my friends and to my friends I'm true
And I live in Belgrave, I live in you
And since to you my friends I've never ever lied
I've never left Belgrave I've never died.

I live in Belgrave still you live near me
And I'll die when you will die when'er that be
And my friends you must believe me when I say
That from Bayview Road I've never gone away.
