Heavy Handed Justice Poem by Terence George Craddock

Heavy Handed Justice

Rating: 5.0

I have seen men with two good hands
two good hands under Sharia Law
who did not deserve them;
if they applied moral terms
of Sharia Law to themselves
but rich men paid blood money;
a pittance in princely wealth excess
to cover their pardoned excessive sins
paid to bleeding weeping victim poor families:

I have seen the unlucky man caught
stealing a fruit who paid the price
under Sharia Law lost a hand;
I have seen scared unlucky man caught
foul hooked trapped in starving poverty rags
dared steal to feed starving dying family;
for it is written 'Theft
is punishable
by amputation of the right hand';

what if caught stealing twice?
death for what use is a man with no hands
yet the man who steals a truck load of fruit;
steals a company steals businesses a country
inflicts poverty suffering upon his
powerless people no charge for he makes;
slippery justice interpretations of laws
is above time manipulated centuries
dusty code applied merciless laws;

show me a man one man just
one who in veiled hidden secrets his
entire life from childhood never stole a candy;
a cake a slice of bread from his
mother's childhood table never stole
an idea a thought or praise;
belonging to another never stole
smile from a wife a child
a stranger show me the man;

who never stole and I will
stare into the face of a liar
let the man woman or child;
who never stole cast the first stone
I have seen a man without a right hand
an unlucky man but I have also seen;
many wielding the knife giving orders
taking the hand of another who deserved
to lose not a hand but their lives;

for they stole freedom from lips
of persecuted poor helpless innocent
they condemned not just in justice;
but with sly smiles made profit
judgements harsh told oath lies
torture dripped from stained fingers;
stole Allah given human rights
all afflicted victims possessions
stole means of making a livelihood;

ruled with iron rods no mercy
not honouring highest greatest law
let he who is without sin cast;
the first stone
then no stones
would be thrown;
no mean judgements made
to Arab speaking peoples
sharia means legislation;

but Allah wrote greater legislations
justice conscience into noble hearts
manifest wealth rarely possesses;
Allah loved noble mercy qualities
sharia was supposed to represent
honour moral code of Allah's religious;
law signalling a prophetic religion
but behold iron profit task masters
stole Allah blessed words love mercy peace;

flash forward past is still sword wielded
observe a piece of meat upon crime block
observe bones visible in severed hand;
injustice not justice screams up to heaven
interpretations of sharia now are different
vary between differing rival Islamic sects;
observe respective schools of jurisprudence
in strictest historically coherent definition
sharia is considered an infallible law of Allah;

cruel mullah lost meaning of blessed words love mercy peace:

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Written in April 2015 on the 4&17.4.2015.
Original version of the split images 'Rich Men Paid Blood Money', 'Compassion Bore No Fruit', 'Caught In Dust Code Merciless Laws', 'A Man Who Never Stole', 'Show Me The Face', 'Dictators Will Dishonoured Fall', 'What Price Paid For Legislation For Mercy? ', 'Who Stole Love Mercy Peace From The Law? ', 'Sword Wielded Justice Cutting Edges' and 'Corrupting Infallible Laws'.

It seemed fitting to write this poem in nine stanzas of 99 lines to honour the traditional ninety-nine names of Allah, then add a hundredth line for the names of Allah concealed hidden from mankind; then in the hundredth line honour the words Allah loves, love mercy peace.
