'Heartache' Poem by Kevin Wang

'Heartache'

as night falls into place
the memories picking up the pace
as my head swirls as I ponder on it
these thoughts these words
breaks my heart like so
the wonder of life right beneath my nose
yet no courage to lift it high like Hercules
or bade her to the lights once there
once twice thrice
upon the stone wall that rises so suddenly
heedless of time pushes me away
as the echoes of her voice needs for more

the hands on my head
the eyes coming to a close
just behind that door
in the long corridor
echoing the sounds of thunder
the hammering in my head
break below this chisel and mallet
and sculpt the statue i'd fall in love
yet there's nothing to make it come true
a wish is just an ache right here

hearing destroying the seconds going by
not as depressed
not as...well
these are just breaking myself away
to previous thoughts about her
just a wish to see her ok
just once again
just the thought
just an ache in this heart of mine
