Haven: The Hunt For A Safe Place Poem by Chibueze Oscar Osuji

Haven: The Hunt For A Safe Place

In search of a safe place, journey yonder.
Tread the farthest land as time bid me so
To the safety banner to nest under.
Find my haven, no matter where I go.

Walking on the brown ground six feet above-
-The grave; Violence walks also, round my path.
He follows me round'bout nearing a cove
Finding safety I must sooner depart.

Father says ''Home is not safe anymore''
Mothers says ''War trots on a trojan horse''.
I'll go away 'fore blood breaks a skin pore,
Leaving love ones 'hind I do feel remorse.

As ev'ry good father sprouts a good stem
Words of my father spread unto his son
When fellowmen shall ask again, tell them
''In search for my haven I'd journey'd yon''
