Have You Heard? Poem by V.Muthu Manickam

Have You Heard?

Rating: 3.5

All windows of my home are having the mosquito net
Though the mosquito menace will be bearable
More mosquitoes throng outside when daylight is set
Mosquitoes thronging in night will not be considerable

A lizard used to come regularly during the night
I used to worry as he don't get prey considerably
Also I wonder when he absents in day, tho' time is right
It is hard to feed or groom a lizard suitably

With lot of concern, I used to watch
I yearn to tell him in his own language
As more prey waits for him in day, to catch
But I curse myself as I fail to engage

The bedroom window is tightly fitted
Yet, the lizard manages to go inside and outside
Lack of his feed lead me to feel regretted
So I sincerely wish to be his aide or guide

What's the use of my knowing half dozen language
when I am unable to speak to this lizard?
With this thought, at times sleep get a blockage
Oh dear lizard! My lamentations, have you heard?

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
This poem was written instantly by me on 23-01-2018 just on seeing the lizard that comes to the window of my bedroom. I was about to sleep. I was feeling sleepy too. Yet the lizard led me to those lamentation and lines!

I would get so much more sleep if lizards didn't run around in my brain every night. Love the poem: -)
