Haunting Poem by Jon M. Nelson

Haunting

As I hear the dark and somber tones,
Echo throughout the land,
It sends a chill down to my bones,
Knowing that I need to make a stand.

The darkness consumes the atmosphere.
The hate is all around me.
I know that I must remove this fear,
In order to be set free.

An unknown force surrounds me.
There is a presence I can't deny.
I can't out run or try to flee,
Or surely I may die.

I cannot see what's out there.
There is something holding me back.
It's like an eternal nightmare,
As I'm waiting for the attack.

A light breaks through the darkness!
Everything seems to be at peace.
It's all in my head, I must confess.
Now my body can be at ease.
