Hate Justified Persecuting Indigenous Dispossessed Poem by Terence George Craddock

Hate Justified Persecuting Indigenous Dispossessed

time shifts
contemplating
evaluating
time shifts

a few time shifts
from pages of history
constantly stand out
scream hatred shout

once in the time
of the American West
conceived of as
a frontier in the age

of adventurers
explorers
pilgrims
seeking new lands

seeking skinned wealth fast
seeking risk life changes
seeking adventure beginnings
seeking ownership title deeds

trappers
settlers
cowboys
goldminers

there was a bigot nasty terminal saying
'the only good indian is a dead indian'
which even good Christian people said?
were they a product of their time rooted?

in mind slave hatred fear bigotry?

what is the lesson learned?

human beings people determined
to justify exploit steal property land
belonging to indigenous cultures
will defame persecute in rage hate

attempt to destroy indigenous cultures
rage fear defending indigenous warriors
defending their culture heritage lands
defending their right to be human beings

the American West was a legislated
latecomer in a sequence dramatic series
in age of land conquest centuries old
Empires expanding is history invaded
