Halloween Memories Poem by Julianna McLeod (LaPlante)

Halloween Memories

I can relate to Halloween,
It's dark and haunted like
How I struggled as a teen.

It's a well rounded holiday,
With both treats and tricks
Though I got tricks either way.

Although my life has been mean,
To me, I cherish these years
Like I still cherish Halloween.

It's haunting to think of the real darkness that is caricatured by the imagery of Halloween, but the frissons of invited fright are delicious. It's a holiday made for the young in spirit.
