Gut Feeling Poem by doug bentley

Gut Feeling

Rating: 5.0

i believe

GUTs* have got
more to do

with what
st. francis# knew

the night
he lit up assisi,

encased in his own
private Light cone,

accelerated
on the force of myth.

or with what
avila teresa*# felt

pleading
with unseen unheard-

let me do my daily duties,
get on with trivialities-

to no avail.

her habit pulled high
in cloister air,

she silver radiance
suspended in mid-rapture

trusting, helpless
as tibetan nun

in lhasa prison
