Gujarat, what makes you behave so?
Brazenly, before the world, how you act.

Is your rifle a mere rifle,
Or is it high caste?
On sighting Dalits it pierces.
Gujarat, what makes you behave so?
Brazenly, before the world, how you act...

Gujarat, what act of yours is this?
What kind of reign is yours?
In the puddle of innocent blood
See! Even the Fakir*
Mirthfully does Raman*.
Gujarat, what act of yours is this...
What kind of reign is yours?

Gujarat, what makes you behave so?
Brazenly, before the world, how you act.

*Fakir: Fakir Vaghela. The noun in Gujarati also means mendicant
Raman: Raman Vora. The verb in Gujarati also means to play.
The words are also used as puns. Both Late Fakirbhai Vaghela and Ramanbhai Vora are dalits and Ministers of the then Government of Gujarat.

ગુજરાત, આવું તું કેમ કરે છે
દુનિયા સામે શરમ વગરના ખેલ કરે છે.

રાઇફ્લ તારી રાઇફ્લ છે કે
છે સાલી કોઈ જાતિ ઊંચી
દલિત ભાળી છેદ કરે છે
ગુજરાત, આવું તું કેમ કરે છે
દુનિયા સામે શરમ વગરના ખેલ કરે છે…

ગુજરાત, આ તું શું કરે છે
કેવું શાસન તું કરે છે
ફકીર જેવો ફકીર જોને
નિર્દોષ લોહીના ખાબોચિયામાં
હસી હસીંને રમણ કરે છે
ગુજરાત આ તું શું કરે છે …
કેવું શાસન તું કરે છે

ગુજરાત, આવું તું કેમ કરે છે
