Guam Arrival Poem by Lorraine Margueritte Gasrel Black

Guam Arrival

stepping off the plane

Mariana's humid kiss

is like a slap

from a warm hot towel

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
The first time I went to Guam i was not expecting the humidity and temperatures to be in the upper nineties at night so I felt the heat when I got off the plane...local legend has it that if you get'kissed' by Mariana's tears (rain or mist) that it brings good fortune..Guam is near the Mariana Trench and is one of several islands in the Mariana islands..Hafa Adai..Guam welcome greeting..
