Greed Poem by Barry Middleton

Greed

I pity the greedy person
they are never happy
never satisfied

there is never enough for them
never enough money
never enough power
never enough adulation
never enough love

greed is the source
of all earthly evil
both global and personal

in grasping for more
when nothing is enough
the greedy person
sabotages their life

I dream of the stars and moon
I do not reach for them
I only reach to conquer desire
I only reach for contentment
