Gravity's Rainbow

I am gravity's rainbow

I am music where there is no need

And song where there is no want of it



I am striking as a clock strikes

And falling- catching- I cry out

Gravity is striking in its own rate



The pull and push and twist-

Formed by mass twisting time

Space and us- you and I- together



Making words and music too

With only the deft touch

I am gravity's rainbow



Etched on the minds of

Those who pick me up and holding me-

Take me wherever they go



I am your friend and comforter

Annoying you and delighting you

And all I am?

Just words, and sounds

And they are the most powerful tools

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
This poem is about the way art and music are the only things that can lift us from the grim realities of life. It is dedicated to Dani Howard a composer who the poet admires very much and considers to be one of the finest composers working today.

This poem will feature in the new collection Little Paper Fishes which will be released April 4th 2018. This is the last poem from the collection to be published outside of the collection.
