Goodbye Love Poem by Padmore Enyonam Agbemabiese

Goodbye Love

Rating: 2.0

all my life I've searched
for where the ripples on the river go
when they disappear beneath the bridge

this dawn I wondered
where beautiful music goes
when it's too far away to hear

it is noon-time and I tried to find
where all the love goes
when it leaks out of a broken heart
and there is not a soul to lend us an ear

last night I looked through the window
to see where the sun's rays go
when clouds take over and the rain come
but it has been some time now and there
is not a star to hope for

so, today I searched
for a true friend
when everyone turned backs on me
but one thing rings a bell
in the forest beyond
is it danger or treasure

first, I thought I found a friend in you
with all the jewels I asked for
but for now, I wish I had known
I would someday have to let you go
without a kiss of goodbye
