Gnat Phobia Poem by Michael P. Johnson

Gnat Phobia

God gives His Shepherds sheep to keep
To feed along The Way
But like Bo Peep who lost her sheep
Theirs too are found to stray

We say that smoking is a sin
Also beer and wine
And so we bar more souls within
Who’d otherwise be fine

Whiling in church till sleek and fat
Thinking we fall not short
Sieving gnats whilst leaving a rat
Like those of whom Christ taught

From bibles of a by gone age
In language all but gone
We seek and ponder page by page
And hope to find God’s Son

Yet traditions bar many doors
Religions keep us bound
Till so confused to numerous flaws
The Truth remains unfound

To Calvary cross lives need to guide
Before the tomb left bear
Not hindering neighbours walk inside
To life and Heaven’s share

We need to practice what we preach
With service clear in mind
Living The Way that we may reach
Those weary lost and blind

To love our God The Lord who’s One
To love our neighbours true
So is the will of Heaven’s done
By me my friend and you
