Give Me A Thirst For Thy Presence Poem by Gary James Smith

Give Me A Thirst For Thy Presence

Give Me A Thirst For Thy Presence

Give me a thirst for Thy presence Lord
Make my heart hunger for Thee
Take away my love towards the world
Place it towards thoughts of eternity
For our souls are of highest value
No price can be placed upon them
And anyone who knows not the Saviour
God's wrath is placed upon Him

For the rejection of God's own Son
Brings upon us our worst condemnation
For spurning the love of God in Jesus Christ
And by rejecting His so great Salvation
Imagine! ...forgiveness at our disposal!
At the cost of Christ's precious blood
You can well imagine the anger of God
When we turn aside from His Word

Are you enjoying the breath of Thy Maker?
But just what does He mean to you?
Have you ever thought about Him before you retire for the evening
Have you offered Him a prayer or two?
There's two exit doors upon you expiry date
Of which one is your opening? ! ! !
I trust today you'll give thoughtful consideration
While you still have breath for that offering!

Do not spurn the love of God
And just live your life by chance
There's a Designer who reigns above
In contol of every circumstance
Your heart has a void that has need
That can only be found in the Son
Don't let sin follow you to the grave
But be saved by the Crucified One!

Hallelujah what a Saviour!
