Fruit Forbidden Poem by RIC BASTASA

Fruit Forbidden

i whisper to myself
that i miss you, in truth,
i miss you,
i reallymiss you, (but
now, i doubt,)
why one must bathe in a river
that flows against you?

in the far forest you are
a wild bird, though a beautiful one
with a song for the solitude of
nests,

how do you miss a peacock in the
zoo?

the cage has a language which the
forest outlaws.

this missing thing is killing peace,
and so i might as well junk it like
an ant, or a butterfly with a broken wing.

in the garden of eden, lies the fruit
forbidden,

the snake pit below the tree, the ripe fruit
about to fall.
