Friends Are All I Have Left Poem by Adrian Shorey

Friends Are All I Have Left

Just as hate contaminates the heart,
I taint any at all chance,
In me for happiness to start,
None though notice at first glance,
I'm the picture of depression, diffidence and pain,
No matter what my mind will always strain,
I don't know why I can't weigh in,
All these things that wear me thin,
I can't forgive myself for any mistakes I make,
Nor can I ignore or forget any smiles I break,
Justice for what I do is the only way in my mind,
For me to get all the forgiveness that I've needed,
The guilt I feel though makes me blind,
Hopes to make things right have completely depleted,
When I can't see how to make up for things they are forever in my head,
These things make me think the world would be better when I'm dead,
Yet I cry at night,
Forget my fright,
Try to fight,
For my plight,
Unsucceeding each and every day,
I keep doing it in hope I'll find a way,
To either give in to or forget all the madness,
For those I care they'll always say,
'Don't live in the past or you'll waste away',
I will keep trying only for those that feed my hope and cure my sadness.
