Free From The Shackles Of My Affections.... Poem by RIC BASTASA

Free From The Shackles Of My Affections....

you know how it feels
to be rejected

so we are inside this
room and we kiss

and i see you burning
with lust which i must
have mistaken for love

i burn myself too
unconsumed with my own fire
and then every fire is
extinguished

bodies tire themselves and
stop and then the mind
begins to think
waking up for another morning

why is there regret for lust?
why look for love?
why descend to the darkness of
our beings?

you were always free
as i am
why are we putting prison bars
to our very room?

i am moving in circles and
i am looking for an opening
where i can get out from here
free from the shackles of my
affections....
