Forgiving Satan Poem by Pasquale DiMeola

Forgiving Satan

Summoned to the center stage of world decisions
All eyes were upon the PRINCE OF DARKNESS
He acquiesced to the humble invitation
In top hat and tuxedo exuding charm
As the anointed speaker rose from the audience
With the faceless declaration of all attendees

"We have come to forgive
Unconditionally
With the wholesomeness
And love all mortals are required to indulge in
The famines and genocides are forgiven
The serial, mass and wayward murderers
Are all forgiven
The bloody wars of all time
Are forgiven
All evilness you condoned in this hectic world
(For you once an angel yourself
And we recognize the powers of rehabilitation)
Is forgiven
For in forgiveness we will free ourselves
Eternally smile with notions of letting go
Realizing there is room equally for both
Goodness and evilness
We have turn the cheeks
The past, the present and the future
Is forgiven forever."

Satan's eyes tearfully swelled up
He gazed over the audience appreciative
Stepped back and gave a sweeping bow
To those modest souls of forgiveness
Took for the exit mumbling under his breath
"SUCKERS."
