Forgiveness Poem by Tony Adah

Forgiveness

You will slap me
I will obey the command
Of the holy book,
Show my other cheek
You can only slap twice
And that's what I have to offer
And nothing more.

I willingly offer
Not out of weakness but strength
Forgiveness is harder than revenge
As you go away laughing feeling nice,
I am even
There's a David with a sling
And a stone waiting by your door
I'll not be there
But it will be a painful defeat.
