Forest Fire Of Love Poem by Bernedita Rosinha Pinto

Forest Fire Of Love

Love moves on like a forest-fire
engulfing every heart in its way;
nothing calms it, nothing stops it
love in every length and breadth
every inch and kilometer finds its way;
sometimes upon those sea-shores
lovers sit, watching the setting sun;
sometimes in the classrooms
their eyes upon each other roves;
sometimes on the streets
so carelessly each other they hug;
sometimes in those parks
enduring promises they make
which never last;
sometimes on the dance floor
they swing holding each other so romantically
though they do not know how to tango;
O' the flexibility of love
so enormous to the hilt,
even in the hillocks
or in the valleys below, it sparks;
rich or poor, in the arms
of each other find comfort;
young or old, in the embrace
of each other rejoice;
every heart wanting to feel
like a moon, lonely, important.
No lover can ever resist
the wonder of a kiss
though unknown are those lips
until they decide together to be
together to live
in peace or in health,
in prosperity or in disparity.
Those clubs, those pubs,
every place, any corner,
love plays it's game;
and though time and enchantment
sets magnitude to every love-story,
the forest-fire of love keeps burning on
provoking ecstasy, empowering exuberance
compelling lovers to trust each other
like two branches with one desire.
And although that love
a repetition of yesterday's climax,
lovers repeat it every time
though the same passion stirs
the today and tomorrows;
love keeps spinning the wheel
of emotions, fantasy and dreams;
love resumes its velocity
to surmount satisfaction
by rotating life and lovers
the impact a forest-fire of love…
so endless, so engrossing
so silently revolving
so destructive yet so renewing.
