For His Sins At The Hands Of Men He Did Pay Poem by Francis Duggan

For His Sins At The Hands Of Men He Did Pay

For his sins at the hands of men he did pay
And if Heaven exists he may be there today
To Saddam who grabbed power and then abused his rule
A true God would be far kinder since humans can be judgemental and cruel
When the mothers of Iraq in their thousands do grieve for their dead
Of those who overthrew him not much good can be said
Lets not honour the invaders or the present rulers of Iraq in song
To overthrow him okay but to hang him all wrong,
He was not a good person as most would agree
But judge not and thou shalt not be judged does seem so true to me
Though human rights to millions of people in his reign he denied
He did not deserve to die in the way that he died
A life for a life and an eye for an eye
In the laws of Humankind only does apply.
