For Him As For Many Poem by Francis Duggan

For Him As For Many

For him as for many life does not seem fair
He struggles to cope with his moods of despair
In his physical prime of life just twenty three
Yet he feels unhappy as the word can be
A nice enough person but life gets him down
And a stranger to most even in his side of the town
He doesn't go to parties, drink or play football
From bed to work to bed that is about all
He does with his life his energy levels low
The quietly spoken fellow the one few seem to know
The best years of life yet life he does not enjoy
Not that long ago he was a carefree boy
A down to earth fellow free of any guile
But he finds it hard for to laugh or to smile.
