Foolish Things Poem by Joyce Hemsley

Foolish Things

We wandered on the shore, we two,
when the sea was calm and blue,
white seagulls flew on graceful wings
and we were in a land of kings.
Do you recall these simple things?
If you do - then my heart sings.

'Twas on a hill in sunny weather
when you vowed to leave me never.
Love's black magic that Cupid brings
will stay with me for a thousand springs.

You loved me so and I loved you
we danced as summer dawned anew,
and wore our golden wedding rings,
but these were only simple things.
It is a simple love we give.
It is a simple life we live.
