Food For Thought Poem by David Wood

Food For Thought

Rating: 5.0

It is lovely to see my vegetables growing
In the garden; potatoes, cabbage and lettuce.
I suppose we must be lucky it's not snowing
As climate change has yet to fully grip us.

The ‘Darling Buds of May' have turned into
Another wet and windy month as we all wait
For the first heatwave to dry the morning dew
Which in turn will raise people's heart rate.

Climate change will bring problems anew
As the uselessness of politicians now show,
Their policies to tackle them are far too few,
And these problems will continue to grow.

What will happen in the years to come?
Will we all have enough food to eat?
Or will food shopping be like a rugby scrum
Where people fight over a bag of wheat?
