Follow Poem by Rizwan Saleem

Follow

Where ever you go
Whatever corner of this earth
Your fears will follow you
And the demons you hide
Pirouette ahead
Tossing your cherished dreams in air
All around like confetti
In macabre celebrations
Faces will manifest
In front of your bleary eyes
Laughing and mocking
Their sing song chants of we told you so
As you tread over footsteps left behind
By fallen angels eons ago
Nightmares played out in High definition color
Surround sound repeats the word "no"
Ah life so cruel and unkind
The same roads with the same dead ends
The ubiquitous nimbus of misery
Your fears will follow you
Like blood thirsty hounds
But grit your teeth
And clench your fists
Wipe clear your eyes
Stand tall on twisted feet
Your fears follow you
Right on your heels
But look by your sides
To your left and to your right
Your courage
Follows you too
