Fly For Free Poem by Dale Mullock

Fly For Free

A shimmering scarlet Sun is setting
Forever fading away, begetting
Sparkling silver stars to my sight
Winking wildly on this cloudless night.
You step outside, looking to the sky
Your arms outstretched, trying to fly
So I hoist you up high on strings
My angel without any wings
For someone so heavenly
Should be allowed to fly for free.

Such a happy life follows me
When you are all that I see.
Your heart will never stall
With me you’ll never fall.
Do you see why
I search the sky?

With dreams deep in your eyes
Cast aside all the wherefores and whys
Be showered with petals of flowers
Hearts bonded by affectionate showers.
Open your arms wide to me
A ticket to heaven I guarantee
I will make a stairwell of stars
With moonbeam banister bars
By shaking the sidereal leaf tree
Stellar steps allow you to fly for free.

The stratosphere soaks my skin
Air lifting my spirits within.
You thrill the tranquil
So life never stands still.
Do you see why
I search the sky?

Slumbering stars become a shadow
Trying to eclipse the Sun’s amber glow.
The day has only just begun
But we look for mischief and fun.
Many smiles come from prank’s disaster
So much hot air from our laughter
From being such fools and buffoons
Filling ourselves like helium balloons
Until we ascend with grinning glee
Floating on sunwaves to fly for free.

Set afloat on cloud nine praise,
In the sky our souls liaise.
Only you can pull my smile
Until I look somewhat senile.
Do you see why
I search the sky?
