Flamenco Queen Poem by Mason Maestro

Flamenco Queen

It's only movement by selecting a stepping graceful repertoire
The forms that are known, they go beyond choreography
Here we go, musicians told to start
When push comes to pop, the couples are pulling apart

And here's the scene
The tango dance-off will kill the feet
Follow or lead?
Or what

From the waltz to a folk dance, swing with the romance
The forms of the known, are rooted in history
Here we go, the beat beats on and on
Where it goes, drawn to these contexts
From social to ceremonial, liturgical to martial the styles are pulling apart

And here's the scene
On a floor, stage, hall or a street
Follow the lead
Or not

Ballerina pirouette, Grand Plié and a Passé on the bar
Sisters and daughters with eating disorders
And the soloist who tap danced on too many ants
Will you follow or lead

And here's the scene
Two disco dancers in the nightclub that the one in the band is worth more than
Follow or lead?

A tact to discover
Benefactor or another
A flamenco queen in trauma took a step into the salsa
With her lessons to the Andalusian teen that starred in evenings to champion mystique

Sick-in-the-belly-dancer dancing to be lighter in her thrust
When the invasion of Arabia is pulling apart
Follow or lead
