Flame Of Reminiscence Poem by Ridah Ellahi

Flame Of Reminiscence

Rating: 5.0

I close my eyes,
I block my ears,
But that is not enough.
How do I break free,
From the imprints you have left,
Forever in my life.
Wherever my gaze wanders,
The flame of reminiscence is ignited.
I recall your touch.
I recall your laugh.
I recall your tears.
I recall your past.
But sitting here, I wonder,
Does your heart also beat?
Do you ever think of me?
Are your eyes devoid,
Of the sentiments they once held for me?
How could you throw me into the pit,
And simply forget?
Not take a moment to turn around.
Not a second to even regret,
How could you possible fail to see,
The truth in every “I love you.”
The sorrow in every “I’ll miss you.”
The ecstasy in every “I’ll always be with you.”
You rip me apart.
Yet your heart is in peril.
You lock away all my relief,
Yet you become the victim.
Do you ever really wonder,
Where you left me to stand?
You slipped away,
When what I needed the most,
Was your hand.
Your hand to hold in mine,
To walk with me as I tried.
You are oblivious,
To the timeless moments I have cried.
Wherever my gaze wanders,
The flame of reminiscence is ignited.
I wonder if you ever think of me…
I wonder can I ever break free…

The recollection of past experiences and events in writing is splendid. The philosophy of Platonic Doctrine that anything we encounter is an imperfect recollection of an idea that our souls have encountered in a previous disembodied existence reflects from your poem..........
