First Light Poem by Rory Hudson

First Light

Rating: 5.0

The day’s creation wakes not yet,
and our half-slumber finds
fulfilment in the dreamy shades
of still enchanted minds.

But kiss me as the first rays of light
caress the morning skies,
and I will see a world still young
reflected in your eyes.

Let then your loving smile light up
the beauty of your face,
and take me with the widening dawn
to sink in soft embrace.

It is the time when life is new,
still touched with golden light,
still filled with dreams from distant stars
we visited at night.

It is the time when love is new
and innocent of pain,
forgetful of the distant wounds
embodied in life’s grain.

So let us know each other now,
for life and love may fade,
as time, who waits beyond our ken,
demands his debts be paid.
