Fireworks Poem by Mycho Jamil

Fireworks

Do you remember?
The flowers we saw
Blooming in the sky.
As you gazed upon their resplendence,
I gazed upon your beauty.
I held your hand,
But you didn't hold mine.

The warmth in your eyes faded
Like those ephemeral flowers.
A tragic memory;
Things can be so beautiful
Yet only for a fleeting moment.
But darling, I must be honest;
These fireworks made me a little lorn.

Their spectrum was vibrant and beautiful,
That drew me in for a little while
Until disappearing into darkness,
Leaving me desolate.
Do you remember?
That was the night of our summer,
The night that didn't last.
