Fin Poem by Wounded Soul

Fin

Remember when we first met at the halls in school?
I was awestruck by you but I played it cool.
You smiled at me and started a conversation,
And that was the start of a perfect connection.

A day had passed, and then a week, a month, a year.
We’re just chillin’ out when you said ‘you’re beautiful.’
Your eyes were shining bright and I thought this couldn’t be right.
We shared our first kiss that night and it was wonderful.

I know it was the start of once upon a time.
I looked at your eyes and you looked back into mine.
My future held a happy ending with you.
I couldn’t wait to see how this story ends.

But something went wrong and I woke up from this dream.
You told me you were sorry and just walked away.
It had started raining and I felt my heart in pain.
I asked you to stay but you were already gone.

I thought I had my once upon a time with you.
I looked at your eyes but you looked away.
This wasn’t the ending I was hoping.
Please tell me this wasn’t how the story would end.

You stood up by the altar as she walked down the aisle.
I stood by the door, wishing that you were still mine.
I wondered what happened, how did we end this way?
That should be me, making vows of forever with you.

We were just a once upon a time.
I caught your eyes and gave you a smile.
At least one of us had a happy ending,
And I think this was how this story should end.
