Field Of Memories Poem by Hasan Haskovic

Field Of Memories

Among blades of grass
Softly dancing in the breeze
Chilled by frostbite
Covered in rotting leaves
Every answer lies revealed
In the light mist, though concealed

Bellowing a dark chime
Rustling like the leaves
Man forgets, if given time
Everything he achieves
In the end left to dig our own graves
And to live out what little remains
Not as slaves
But as earth beneath the plains

Alien concepts such as freedom and birth-rights
Enslaved it's creators into a thousand fights
Many of which could never cease
Instead brought thousands souls into release

Heaven must truly be far
If to deserve it, you must live a war
A war of dissonance and constant retreat
From impending doom, the final defeat

So, look to the stars
Down them from the sky with wishes heavy
Rupture the abyss above with scars
And let them know that you are ready

Them, him, all of the above
Leave nothing but cinder
And empty promises of peace and love
The way things are the way they'll stay

Tomorrow is another day
Far away
