Fear Poem by Forever Underestimated

Fear

They say the only thing you should fear
Is fear itself.
If that's true,
Then why do I fear so much more?
I'm afraid to look you in the eyes
Because I don't want to know the truth.
I'm afraid to see your face
Because I don't want you to see mind.
I'm afraid of what you think
But I don't know why.
I'm afraid to hear you voice
Because I never know what you're going to say.
I'm afraid to walk too close to you
Because I don't know what you'll do.
I'm afraid of the unknown
And the unknown is you.
I'm afraid of my own face
Because I know it'll blush when you're near.
I'm afraid of your mind
Because I don't want to know what you think.
I'm afraid to hear your heartbeat
Because I'm scared there's none.
But, most of all, I'm afraid
Of when you'll be gone.
It's funny, you know
How all these fears
Are the things I want the most.
Life's strange that way.
I guess I'll never figure it out,
And you'll never know what 'it' is.
Maybe that's a good thing, though...
