Father And Son Poem by Sabine Borrageiro

Father And Son

he held the wriggling baby
so tightly to his chest
with tears of joy he whispers
'i will always do my best
to guide you through this life
my son
with strength and pride and joy
welcome to our family
my precious baby boy! '

he watched him grow through seasons
no stories left untold
of wizards, cowboys, pirates
and witches that grew old
he gave him tools to master
his life, to make him wise
taught him dignity and honour
and never to tell lies

the years passed by so swiftly
his son became a man
strong hands toiling in the sun
he reaped a promised land
the father stood by quietly
so proud that he gave joy
to this, the apple of his eye
his son, his friend, his boy

he holds his dying father
so tightly to his chest
and whispers in his silenced ears
'i will always do my best
to make you proud of me
your son,
the strength that you once had
this legacy you leave me
my precious loving dad'
