Far From Eden

Full amethyst the skies are lit
Above the woods where goldfinch flit
And I am far, so far from home
I know I cannot trace the road
By which I came
I wonder truly how to stand
And how to walk on alien land
And what the code of conduct is
When wandering thus without old friends
I mark the landscape in my dreams
And find not one familiar gleam;
Of all the landmarks I have known
Few register where I am now
Mere theatre sets
And so I ask you oh my God
Help me find my place in you
All homes with me are finished now
Who lost the first,
I don't know how.
