Family Reunion Poem by Bill Dureen

Family Reunion

Today is the day
It's our family reunion
Relatives coming for miles
It's a grand occasion
There's gonna be
Many things that we'll talk of
Things that will make us all laugh
While we're sitting drinking

Harry will tell us
About all the fish he's caught
In a pool nobody's heard of
We will all laugh
Cause we know he's a so-and-so
He doesn't even own a pole

All of the old folks
Will have things to tell us
They haven't seen us for months
But they still remember
'Gee, it's amazing how children will grow up
Last summer you were so thin
Now you're fat...
How aboout that! '

Bob's Auntie Alice
Will describe the palace
She visited during vacation
We will all ooh and ahh
At everything she saw
Don't let her know she told us last year

Then when they all head home
Guess who'll be here alone
Waiting for next year's reunion
Oh, what a gloomy place
Won't see a happy face
Except for that one day every summer

Today is that day
It's our family reunion
Relatives coming for miles
It's a grand occasion...
