Fall Fleeing Poem by Ragy Sandid

Fall Fleeing

Rating: 5.0

Why do some people
Call you Autumn
And in other places
Call you Fall?

Why you of all
Have two names?
Is it because
We see leaves fall
Or we see summer fail
To revive our tale?

Why is it when you come
People hibernate like
A turtle in its shell
A gopher in the cell
A ghost that's not well
Are you heaven or hell?

Why are you and the quiet
So synonymous
Are you autumn because you are anonymous?
Like people "ought" to desert you
Because you are so "ominous"
Or so luminous
That poets wait for you
To inspire their dubious nature

I, myself, have missed you
No matter what name they give you
Born in my world of twos
I understand what it is to be accused
And all forms of misuse
In Fall you let loose
The fibers of life everyone overused
With autumn you swear solemn
There's a past to overcome
