Extra Mile Poem by miss liss

Extra Mile

This almost seems too good to be true,
I can't think about one thing I don't like about you.
However, one thing that may come to mind
Is that sometimes you tend be quite blind.

The laughs I have or the smiles on my face
Are what hide the fear that surrounds this space.
I’m scared what we have today may be gone tomorrow,
That my feelings were just something to borrow.

The look in my eyes reveals questions unasked,
The 'nothing' response is how these concerns are masked.
Am I the only girl who runs through your head?
Is there someone else you'd wish to be with instead?

The closer I get to you, the more I have to lose,
So I hope one day you'll be brave enough to choose.
Do you want me in your life; do you think you're ready?
Right now, I’d be more than willing to be going steady.

Show me you're worth the risk, you're worth the jump,
That I’m not just some girl you plan to dump.
Don’t just prove it with your words, but with what you do.
I want to know how much I mean to you.

Wake me up in the middle of the night,
If you think something's wrong, make sure it’s right.
If you miss me, come see me, make me feel adored
My door's always open, a big hug will be a reward.

You say all the right things, but are they all true?
If you don't mean a word, then just pass on through.
I’m not the kind of girl to be messing around,
So I hope you're not like every other boy I’ve found.

You may say you're different, but I guess we'll see,
I’ll find out by what you're willing to do for me.
But until you're willing to go the extra mile,
My heart will remain protected for a while...
