Extinction Is Forever Poem by Francis Duggan

Extinction Is Forever

At the rapid increase in the human population the loser is wildlife
And due to habitat destruction extinction it is rife
And extinction is forever despite what some might think or say
And despite scientific cloning more creatures dying out every day.

Men bulldoze another woodland for to build another Town
And for some creatures one tree nearer to extinction for every tree cut down
And each day more species are endangered and more becoming rare
And extinction is forever though too few seem to care.

Far too many greedy developers who of wildlife little know
They scarcely could distinguish between a parrot and a crow
They never give to Nature from her they only take
The more land that they clear for housing the more money that they make.

Extinction is forever that fact with us remain
And creatures that become extinct we shall never see again
The saying 'As dead as the dodo' to it has a true ring
And many creatures sad to say have lived their final Spring.
