Excuse Me! Ladies.... First Poem by doug bentley

Excuse Me! Ladies.... First

gentlemen,

follow me the wise man said
but he walked behind.
leonard cohen, canada's
permanent poet laureate

on the manly gesture
of keeping a lady's back

cover, and imply: how
canadian cowards learn
elementary etiquette,

facesaving some from
a further lifetime
of social idiocy,
situational psychosis....

...and, hopefully,
my dream of having a few
uninterrupted conversations
in adhd addicted vancouver

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I first encountered the wonder of the songs of Leonard Cohen in the summer of 69, a wondrous time for a vagabond like me on the verge of a new life. The accompanying snapshot of today's poetry menu proves that Leonard Cohen was a unique individual.. a fitting cap to my lifetime of wandering, the poem and snapshot are my salute to his legend.

A story and custom made photo accompany this poem. If they do or have not appeared that is because the technical skills of poets and others on this site are beyond bad. it is excruciating to try to do things on this rustic rusted site.
