Even Though My Tears Have Dried Poem by Joy Powell

Even Though My Tears Have Dried

Rating: 5.0

The sorrow still remains
I so long for love from thee
but chains won, t set me free
My heart is full of love for one
yet the chains still hold me down
If you would bring me from my knees
and break these rusted chains
I could love and be with thee
and sorrow be no more

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Blocking out my abuse as a child-and in an arranged marriage- I became the professional I longed to be- -yet the chains still kept me from love until I met someone who encouraged me to seek help- and it made me feel so worthy and happy with therapy and other options- -but sadly the pressure of it all- -I lost the one who loved me enough- -to let me spread my wings and fly.
