Eternity Poem by Tiff Murphy

Eternity

There she lays in her casket bed,
The word death slithers off their tongues,
As if it were forbidden by unheard ears,
People are gathered around,
Letting their teardrops fall to the ground,
While death hides in the shadows afraid to be seen,
The church bell rings startlying the people,
They moved away from the girl's corpse,
She arose to let them know how she died,
She stated 'there once was a guy and he was so fine,
I knew I'd love him and make him mine,
But that didn't happen,
She took him away from me,
I was betrayed by a girl younger then me,
I took my life and now i'm rotting away,
laying here,
I begged and pleaded with them but death song's slowed to an end',
The corpse slowly fell back into the coffin,
The man she had once loved arrived by her side,
He whispered not to be mad at him and to forgive him,
He did not know,
But in the shadows,
Death attacked killing him instinctly by the throat,
Now they lay side by side,
This girl and this boy,
For eternity they'll be together,
And the girl finally got her wish,
Now I open my eyes and realize that wasn't the girls wish or anyone elses,
But my own.
