Equal Justice Poem by octavia wilson

Equal Justice

Rating: 5.0

What happened to equal justice?
What happened to being fair?
Im sitting here wondering if you people even care.
We both did wrong, but all he gets is a slap on the wrist, while I'm sitting here in this dark cell shivering from the mist.
What happened to equal justice?
What happened to my rights?
He got off without even putting up a fight.
Is it the color of my skin, or the gender that I took?
He got off without even a second look.
