Envy Poem by David Wood

Envy

Rating: 5.0

Envy, that rage that fills the heart
And destroys the soul.
Envy, slowly festers with its lover
Hatred and roams widely seeking
A victim.

Envy has the power of invisibility,
Its personal attributes when
Joined with hatred becomes a
Cruel force for evil.

Like Medusa, envy can have many faces,
And when many faces are envious
The personality of envy changes
To pathological envy.

A pathologically envious person
Will find ways to divert your successes
Whether these successes are in your
Career, in your home life, or even
Writing poetry.

Yeah that is true. The last stanza is the gist of the poem and beautifully expressed. Thanks.

This is wisdom, David. I have learned that envy rarely approaches with an honest face. A fantastic verse.
