Enough Hyperbole Poem by Raymond Farrell

Enough Hyperbole

Enough hyperbole
But there can never be enough
For some people
I have quit reading
The false outrage
Put forth by people
Enjoying the benefits
Of Western society
I have lived in the third world
For extended periods of time
Practicing medicine
I have treated people with leprosy
And diseases long gone
In the West
I have seen people
Starving on the streets
I don't need to read fiction
In the guise of poetry
Presented by those
Who think they are being helpful
By ranting and raving
About a situation they know nothing
Often to enhance their name recognition
But can't get of their asses
Leave their Ivory Towers
And comfort zones
And actually do something meaningful.

If you have spent all your life in the Western world it can be perplexing.
