Early Morning Walk On The Beach Poem by Matt Greenblatt

Early Morning Walk On The Beach

Millenia ago you spat us forth
Upon this wretched land
To crispen in the sun
As the crashing waves
Played in pools and
Scoffed at our suffering
Now each summer we return
In search of a breast to suckle
To your arid shores
And find your water still is poison
Life giver and life taker
In and out as endless as the tides
So that today on the sand
Walks your only legacy
The tears of an abandoned child
