Someday I'll see her smiling with golden sun in her hair
Like the dreams I've been having for so long
Someday her scent will waft on the breeze like fresh morning air
And the voice she speaks will be like a song
Someday I'll know why I've been so alone for all these years
And we can be thankful the waiting has ended
Someday her kisses will far outnumber all this life's tears
May it precede life being expended
Oh, I'll never understand the will of a loving God
Who gives His creation dreams of such love
Oh, how very cruel, how painful, how unloving, how odd
When dreams, naught to be had, comes from above
Or may it be, Lord, that the time is still coming for me?
I have kept your commands on love, my Lord
When others have mocked and chided me for my purity
I've stood in your Word to be my reward
And, if not, Lord; if you do not have that someone for me
And desires you've given were a test
Then, Christ, be merciful and take them; in peace, let me be
Because from this long journey I seek rest
As I'll never understand the will of a loving God
Who gives His creation dreams of such love
Please don't be cruel, don't be unloving; lift me with your rod
Tear these dreams from me, back to you above
