Dreams Poem by John Duffy

Dreams

Dreams

I dreamt of summer time
Standing in the sun
Running through the rain
And having such fun

I dreamt of days long in the past
Walking through dark woods
And days that forever seemed to last
I dreamt of holding hands with first love
And it's embers that ignited
So fast
I dreamt of bygone days
Of living in the past
Of times and experiences
People and of places
Of happiness and hopes
I can still see all their faces
As I awoke in the early Mornings lights
I smiled as I reflected
Upon dreaming of such delights
Memories are the source code
Of our mortal extrusions and plights
May the new summers sun
Bring more dreamstates flights
It's then as I awoke
I channelled
The Rose

Our innermost trepidation is not sometimes apparent
Sometimes our performances are simply transparent
We are all meant to shine but sometimes
We hide
Shrinking from the lights
And into dim shadows
Seeking liberation instead within a smaller world
Never seeking our brilliance
As our emotional hindrances swirls
Do you realise
There is a glorious symphony
within you
A glory of God
Flowing throughout each sinew
Sometimes our greatest fears
Offer us a chance to renew
For courage to grow
Like an erupting volcano
To unshackle us from the chains we create
Sometimes
Life is just like a blind date
Some experiences you will hate
Some you will love
Some will be great
But within them all
You will learn and you'll observe
Our innermost trepidation may seem incessant
Sometimes
Our performances might be unpleasant
But we all need the overbearing
To reach heaven
Our goal
Our essence
For without the courage to face our deepest reflections
Do we really want to always live within times dim shadows
Forever hiding our rose
Shine
For you are the star
Of one of life's many shows
You are special
Always embrace
What God
Already knows
